“One Call That’s All”…No! Catastrophic Cases Require Much More
You have seen the ads on television, billboards, and buses suggesting that a personal injury lawyer can make your case in “One Call.”
Maybe “one call is all” if you have been in a car wreck and just looking for a quick check. But If you or a loved one has suffered a life-altering or life-ending injury, one call with a law firm is NOT sufficient.
One Call Is Not Enough
Reducing your case to one call is impossible and grossly unfair to you. To make a case that has the best chance of resulting in the best outcome for a client, the legal team (consisting of lawyer and nonlawyer staff) needs to have frequent communication with the client – in person, over the phone, and in writing to (a) make sure the lawyers have all the facts and witness information necessary to investigate the case, (b) update you with respect to facts discovered that meaningfully impact your case, and (c) understand how your injuries impact your quality of life. This involves a face-to-face meeting, usually at the client’s home.
Advertising lawyers are in the business of signing up as many cases as possible and churning those cases to get easy settlements. If a case becomes difficult (and most cases present some hurdles), they will either drop you as a client or settle the case on the cheap and move on to the next.
The Baer Law Firm Is Different
The Baer Law Firm is different. We are highly selective about the cases we take. When we take a case, we see it through to the end. We take every measure possible to overcome obstacles. If an obstacle cannot be overcome, we honestly explain the issue to you rather than just dropping the case.
Below is what you can expect when you call The Baer Law Firm about a life-altering injury or loss.
- First, you will have an in-depth conversation with a member of our team (not a remote person reading from a script) about facts giving rise to your harms and losses. This team member will actively listen and ask questions as you explain what happened. While s/he is providing an understanding ear, s/he is also assessing whether the case is viable and is a good fit for our expertise. If it is not a fit, we will honestly tell you and explain why it is not a fit. We will do so in plain language – not legal mumbo jumbo.
- Second, if what happened is something we can handle, we will then ask for additional information. For instance, we handle a significant number of medical malpractice cases. In these cases, reviewing detailed medical records is critical. Thus, we will likely ask that you provide us with medical records, photographs, and other information you have that allows us to better understand the facts and to determine whether we can assist.
- Third, if the medical records and other information support a legal case, one of our lawyers will meet with you in person or over Zoom to provide our thoughts and discuss the next steps.
- Only after these three in-depth conversations/meetings, will The Baer Law Firm ask that you sign an attorney agreement.
- Once you hire us, we will provide you with time frames in which we expect to conduct our detailed investigation. This is when we thoroughly investigate all aspects of what happened to you or your loved one. We request your complete medical records, review those records in-house, and then review them with experts such as doctors and nurses. We do this while maintaining transparent communication with you through phone calls, emails, and text messages. This phase alone can take many months. However, we provide frequent updates along the way. You will not be left wondering about the status of your case.
- Once we have the information we need to make your case (and only then), will we present your case either in a demand letter or a lawsuit.
